Our V60 Championships are back for 2026!

Seven events. Four countries. One global celebration of brewing.


This year, the Allpress x HARIO V60 Championship is heading across Australia, New Zealand, Singapore and the UK, bringing together brewers to put their pour-over skills to the test.


Below are the Full Terms and Conditions for the UK competition.

Allpress x HARIO V60 Championships 2026 - Terms and Conditions

By entering the Allpress x HARIO V60 Championships 2026 (the "Competition"), all competitors (each a "Competitor") and judges agree to the following terms and conditions.

In these Terms and Conditions, "Organiser" means Allpress Espresso UK Ltd.

  1. Eligibility and Entry

1.1. Competitors must be at least 18 years of age at the date of entry.

1.2. Competitors must hold a valid passport and be available to travel and if selected as the overall winner, to Tokyo, Japan in April 2027. Failure to meet this requirement may result in forfeiture of any prize won. This return flight must be from London.

1.3. Employees (and their immediate family members and household members) of Allpress Espresso UK Ltd and their related bodies corporate, and any agencies associated with the Competition, are ineligible to enter.

1.4. Submissions will open three weeks prior to the Competition date, with thirty-two (32) Competitor spots available for the Competition. Registrations will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.

1.5 - Entry is via the Eventbrite page. Competitors will be notified by email at the time of booking and will be required to confirm their participation 48 hours before the event. Failure to confirm within the 48-hour timeline may result in cancellation of the competitor registration.

1.6 - Once the thirty-two (32) competitor slots are filled, a waitlist will be opened for parties who wish to compete. Interested parties will be notified once a competition position becomes available. Waitlist parties are encouraged to attend the event on the evening, as a position may become available.

1.7. The Organiser reserves the right to make all decisions relating to the administration, operation and interpretation of these Terms and Conditions. The Organiser's decisions are final and binding, and no correspondence will be entered into. For the avoidance of doubt, winners of the Competition are determined solely by reference to the skill-based judging criteria set out in section 8.0.

1.8 - The Organiser reserves the right to amend these Terms and Conditions, the Competition format, schedule, venue, judging process or any other aspect of the Competition where reasonably necessary due to operational requirements or circumstances beyond the Organiser's reasonable control, provided the integrity of the Competition is maintained.

1.9 - The Organiser reserves the right to refuse entry to, or disqualify, any competitor who:

• breaches these Terms and Conditions;

• provides false or misleading information;

• tampers with the Competition process;

• behaves in an unsafe, abusive, disruptive or unsportsmanlike manner;

• fails to comply with reasonable directions issued by event officials; or

• acts in a manner that may bring the Competition, the Organiser or its partners into disrepute.


2.0 Competition Costs

2.1. The cost of entry into the Competition is £20.00 per Competitor, inclusive of VAT where applicable.

2.2. This is an open event (subject to clause 1), however all guests must register to enter the Competition through the Eventbrite page.

2.3. - Food and beverage will be provided during the event.

2.4. Competitors are provided a goodie bag on arrival which is valued at approximately £50.00.


3.0 Refunds

3.1. Subject to any rights Competitors may have under applicable consumer protection legislation, ticketholders may request a refund of their entry fee through Eventbrite up to seven (7) days before the Competition. Refund requests must be submitted through the Eventbrite account used to purchase the ticket and will be handled in accordance with the refund policy displayed on the Eventbrite event page and order confirmation.


4.0 Dates, Times and Locations

4.1. The Competition will be held on Thursday 29 October 2026, from 5:00pm to 9:30pm, at Allpress Dalston cafe, 55 Dalston Lane, London E8 2NG.

4.3 - The Organiser reserves the right to change competition dates, venues or timings where reasonably necessary.


5.0 Prizes

5.1. At the end of the Competition, the top three Competitors will receive the following prizes:

1st prize: a trip to Japan including one economy return airfare, accommodation allowance to the maximum value of £1,500, and a 4-day event pass to World Coffee Championships Tokyo 2027; and a HARIO product pack valued at approximately £150; and a BWT Home Vida jugs and replacement cartridge. Refer to section 13.0 for further travel details.

2nd prize: £200 VISA gift card and a HARIO product pack valued at approximately £125. A BWT Home Vida jugs and replacement cartridge.

3rd prize: £100 VISA gift card and a HARIO product pack valued at approximately £100. A BWT Home Vida jugs and replacement cartridge.

5.2. The 2nd- and 3rd-place Competitors will receive the prizes listed above. Prizes will be awarded based on the final ranking determined at the end of the Competition.

5.3. Prizes are not transferable, exchangeable, refundable or redeemable for cash or any other form of credit. In the event that a prize becomes unavailable for any reason, the Organiser reserves the right to substitute it with a prize of equal or greater value.


6.0 Competition Rules and Regulations

6.1. Competitors must use the coffee provided by Allpress Espresso during the competition. The region and process of the selected coffee will be revealed at the event start time prior to brewing. No external coffee may be brought on-site. The competition coffee is not available for purchase prior to the event. Competitors may choose to purchase coffee through the Allpress website to familiarise themselves with our roast profile.

6.2. Competitors must use the cups provided during the competition and for the presentation. Cups supplied by ACME.

6.3. Competitors must use a genuine HARIO V60 brewer including: classic V60, Switch, Neo dripper, MUGEN. Competitors may bring their own brewer as long as it is a genuine HARIO V60 brewer from this list and the competitor can clearly identify their own brewer. A range of brewers will be provided to borrow for the competition by Brewed By Hand. These items will be lent for the event only on a first-come first-serve basis and must not leave the competition area.

6.4. Competitors must use genuine HARIO V60 paper filters, either 01 or 02 size. Filters will be supplied by HARIO for the competition which must be used.

6.5 - Accessories such as decanters, thermometers, timers, sifters, air blowers, WDTs, spoons and water dispersion aids are permitted.

6.6 - Paragon chilling rocks or anything that is intended to change the temperature, flavour or flow rate of the coffee are not allowed.

6.7 – Competitors may use the hand grinder supplied by the Organiser or their own manually operated hand grinder, unless otherwise specified within the requirements of an individual competition round. Electric grinders are prohibited throughout the competition.

6.8 - Competitors must use a supplied pouring kettle from the range provided by Brewed By Hand on a first-come first-serve basis. Pouring kettles may either be non-electric and filled with boiling water (not provided), or electric kettles with a base and UK plug or plug adaptor that can be plugged into the Event space power supply. Any kind of heater (gas, flame, halogen etc) other than an electric kettle is not permitted.

6.8.1. If competitors wish to use scales for brewing and weighing, they may bring their own, or borrow one from the range provided by Brewed By Hand. Scales are not mandatory however the complete finished brew must be a minimum of 250 ml/g of brewed coffee in order to be evaluated. Brews less than this volume will not be assessed.

6.9 - All accessories must comply with the rules outlined in the terms and conditions. Event officials may inspect any equipment prior to competition to ensure compliance with these Terms and Conditions. The Organiser takes no responsibility for any lost or damaged competitor-owned equipment during the Event; the competitor is solely responsible for keeping track of their own equipment. Competitors may find it helpful to have a list of their own equipment on-hand and an easy method of carrying it such as a labelled bag or suitcase.

6.9.1. All equipment borrowed from the provided kit from Brewed By Hand must be returned by the end of the Event. All equipment belonging to competitors must be picked up by their owners by the end of the Event. Pickup after the Event will not be possible.


7.0 Practice Time, Prep Time and Competition Time

7.1. Pre-competition: competitors will not be provided coffee prior to the competition day and the coffee to be used in the competition rounds will not be disclosed prior. Competitors are welcome to purchase coffee from the Allpress Espresso website. A discount code will be provided upon completion of registration.

7.2. On the day preparation: there will be a space allocated for pre-competition practice. During this time competitors may prepare brewing water, sort through and pick coffee beans, weigh out coffee doses, assemble brewers.

7.3. Set-up time: Before the competition time stages, competitors will have four (4) minutes to set up their working space. Competitors can use this time to; plug in the kettle, set brewing equipment into place, preheat brewing water in the kettle, add coffee to the grinder and/or grind the coffee. Competitors may not rinse the filter or prepare the carafes in any way.

7.4. Competition time: Competitors will have five (5) minutes to prepare their brewed coffee for presentation to the judges. All brewing (water in contact with ground coffee) must be done only within this time period – any competitor found to have begun the brewing process prior to this will not have their coffee evaluated. Brewed coffee not presented by the end of the five-minute time limit will not be evaluated. Timekeepers will be present and alert competitors to the end of brewing time, and competitors may ask for a time check at any point during the five-minute brewing time. The MC will be announcing start, one minute left, and end of time.

7.5 - Technical issues: If a competitor is experiencing a technical issue with their equipment they must flag it to the Head Judge or an Event assistant as soon as possible. Any equipment failure determined by the Head Judge to be outside the competitor's reasonable control may result in additional time or a re-brew at the Organiser's discretion.

7.6. Floorplan. Competitors will be behind the Brewing Stations, brewing in a space roughly 50 x 50 cm on a solid café table. Electric supply will be organised on the day. Belongings can be stored in the booths behind the brew stations or underneath the tables. Water and coffee can be disposed of in the sink. Before and after competitors’ allocated setup and competition times, competitors may move around the space, with the exception of the sink and washup area and the MC area. Competitors may enter the sink area only to wash up their equipment during setup time and clean down time; after this they must allow the space to be free for staff and other competitors.


8.0 Scoring and Judging

8.1 - A full rules and regulations will be made available to participants two (2) weeks prior to the competition, as part of their entry pack.

8.2. There will be a panel of four (4) judges per competition round. Judges will calibrate with the Head Judge during preparation time so that all judges are scoring and judging with an alignment of sensory skills and understanding of how to reward excellent brewing.

8.3. Each round is judged by blind tasting, using cupping spoons.

8.4 - Competitors names and number are marked on the underside of the ACME cup provided to remain hidden.

8.5. Each judge will receive five (5) coins before the tasting.

8.6. Judges will conduct a blind taste test of each coffee, assessing each brew against the following skill-based criteria: acidity, body, sweetness and tactile qualities. Each judge will evaluate the technical skill demonstrated in the brew as reflected in these sensory attributes.

8.7. After tasting, judges will place their coins in front of the cups they wish to vote for. A maximum of three (3) coins can be placed on a single cup. Judges must place all five coins down each round or group of competitors.

8.8. Each judge arrives at their conclusion independently, without discussion with fellow judges. The Head Judge will also taste each cup however will not allocate scores and may take personal notes for later usage to decide tie-breakers. Judges may discuss with the Head Judge for any guidance on tasting or selection.

8.9. The Head Judge will announce the winner based on the cup with the most amount of coins.

8.10. The MC reveals the round winner by lifting the winning cup.

8.11. In the event of a tie, the Head Judge will cast the deciding vote.

8.12 - The Head Judge's decision on all judging matters is final.


9.0 Competition Format

9.1. The Competition will be structured as a single-event, three-round knock-out competition held on Thursday 29 October 2026.

9.1.1 - Thirty-two (32) Competitors will start the Competition.

9.1.2 - There will be three (3) rounds. In each round, Competitors will have nine (9) minutes to complete the process of preparing, brewing and presenting their coffee, including four (4) minutes of preparation time and five (5) minutes of competition time.

9.1.3. Each competition round features between four (4) or eight (8) competitors brewing coffee simultaneously.

9.1.4 - Judges will conduct blind taste tests of each coffee, making a private assessment to determine the best brew each round.

9.1.5 - The winner/s of each round will advance to the next round.

In Round One, thirty-two (32) Competitors will brew in four (4) groups of eight (8), with sixteen (16) Competitors progressing. In Round Two (semifinal), sixteen (16) Competitors will brew in two (2) groups of eight (8), with four (4) Competitors progressing.

In Round Three (final), four (4) Competitors will brew at once, with the judges selecting 1st, 2nd and 3rd place at the end of the evening.


10.0 Brewing

10.1. Only ground coffee and water are permitted as ingredients.

10.2. Competitors must use the coffee supplied by Allpress on the day of the competition. No coffee can be brought into the competition.

10.3 - Competitors cannot bring their own water or minerals. Competitors must use the water provided, which will be BWT water Competitors may not bring their own water even if it is sealed and the same brand.

10.4. A maximum of 21g of ground coffee is allowed in each recipe.

10.5. Competitors must prepare a minimum of 250 g of brewed coffee in the carafe. This is assessed by the Head Judge before evaluation. Less than 250 g/ml of brewed coffee will not be assessed.

10.6. Competitors may not add bypass water of any temperature to their brewed coffee.

10.7. Brewed coffee not presented within the five-minute (5) time limit will not be evaluated.

10.8. Competitors may taste their own coffee from a separate cup, or using a separate spoon. Competitors must be mindful to ensure that the judges have a minimum of 250g of brewed coffee for evaluation.


11.0 Water Regulations

11.1 - The water must taste “neutral” and not be sweetened or adulterated.

11.2 - The Head Judge will taste the water and may disallow its use if deemed inappropriately sweetened.

11.3 - The use of ice, and any form of water other than the BWT water supplied, is not permitted.

11.4 - Competitors must only use the water supplied by the Organiser.


12.0 Coffee evaluation and progression within rounds

12.1 - Event assistants and the Head Judge will serve coffee to judges. The brewed coffee will be poured from the decanter on the competitor's table into an ACME cup which will be marked underneath with a name identifying which competitor brewed it. Event assistants and the Head Judge will ensure all cups are safely transported to the back area where the Judges will then evaluate, separate from the competition area.

12.2 - As soon as the brewed coffee has been decanted, competitors must begin their clean-down time. They will have five (5) minutes to do so, ensuring that unused water and coffee are poured away, old filters and grinds discarded, and their equipment unplugged/packed away (if their own and not borrowed). Event assistants will be on-hand to help with this.

12.3 - Coffee evaluation: Judges must use a cupping spoon to assess coffees. Judges may assess cups in any order they choose. Minimum of two (2) sips must be taken from each cup, with a maximum of three (3).

12.4 Progression: In Round One, thirty-two (32) Competitors will brew in four (4) groups of eight (8), with sixteen (16) Competitors progressing. In Round Two (semi-final), sixteen (16) Competitors will brew in two (2) groups of eight (8), with four (4) Competitors progressing. In Round Three (final), four (4) Competitors will brew at once, with the judges selecting 1st, 2nd and 3rd place at the end of the evening.

12.5 Scoring: the Head Judge will be tasting and making notes but not allocating scores. The Head Judges' notes and opinion will be referred to only for guidance where there is a clear disagreement between quality of flavour, acidity, body and sweetness, or where there is a tiebreaker.

13.0 Travel

13.1. The 1st place winner must be available to travel to Tokyo, Japan in April 2027. If the 1st place winner is unable or unwilling to travel and participate on the required dates, they will forfeit the Japan travel prize, and an alternative winner may be selected at the Organiser’s discretion.

13.2. The 1st place winner will receive a trip to Japan, including one economy return airfare and accommodation package up to the maximum value of £1,500 and is to be booked through the Organiser. Travel dates must be agreed upon in consultation with the Organiser. They will also receive a 4-day event pass to World Coffee Championships Tokyo 2027. The winner will have the freedom to select their preferred flights and accommodation.

13.3. The Japan stay includes accommodation reimbursement up to a maximum daily rate of and total duration to be specified by the Organiser, as applicable, prior to booking.

13.4. Any additional costs outside of what has been outlined above will be the responsibility of the competitor.

13.5 - Allpress Espresso UK Ltd strongly recommend any competitor travelling to Japan to take out their own travel insurance for the entirety of their travel and stay.

13.6 - Prizes are not transferrable, exchangeable, refundable or redeemable for cash or any other form of credit. In the event that a prize becomes unavailable for any reason, the organiser reserves the right to substitute it with a prize of equal or greater value.

13.7 - Competitors are responsible for ensuring they hold valid passports, visas and any other documentation required to travel.

13.8 - Failure to obtain travel documentation does not entitle the winner to an alternative prize or cash payment.


14.0 Requirements of Competition Winners

14.1 - The 1st place winner must be available to travel at the times nominated above for the Japan prize.

14.2 - Competitors acknowledge that photography, videography, live streaming and media coverage may occur throughout the competition.

14.3 - Competitors grant the Organiser a perpetual, royalty-free licence to use their name, image, likeness and competition footage for promotional, editorial and marketing purposes without further compensation.

14.4 - The 1st place winner must have enough funds to cover the costs of food, freight, internal travel and incidental miscellaneous costs while in Japan for the hosted HARIO experience in April 2027.

14.5. The 1st place winner must make themselves available on either the Monday or Friday following the Competition, on a date and time agreed with the Organiser, to complete a paid shift at the Allpress Farringdon cafe, 88–89 Cowcross Street, London, where they will brew and serve their winning recipe as part of a pop-up event. The winner will be paid £20 per hour for this shift.


15.0 Liability

15.1 - Competitors participate in the Competition entirely at their own risk.

15.2 - Competitors must comply with all health, safety and operational directions issued by event officials.

15.3 - To the extent permitted by law, the Organiser excludes all liability for loss, damage, injury or expense arising from participation in the Competition or travel associated with the Competition, except where liability cannot legally be excluded, including under applicable UK consumer protection law.

15.4 - The Organiser strongly recommends all Competitors obtain their own travel insurance for travelling to and attending the Competition.

15.5 – Subject to any liability which cannot be legally excluded, the exclusion of liability under clause 15.3 extends to (but is not limited to):

  • •technical malfunctions, delays or failures, including those resulting from accessing any materials related to the Competition and any incorrect, inaccurate or incomplete information communicated in the course of, or in connection with, the Competition as a result of any technical malfunctions, delays or failures;
  • •theft, unauthorised access or third party interference;
  • •lost or damaged entries, Prize claims or Prize(s); and/or
  • •acceptance and/or use of any Prize;
  • •events beyond the Organiser’s reasonable control that prevent or delay the Competition or travel;
  • •any loss, damage or injury arising from participation in the Competition or acceptance of the Prize (including in the course of any travel associated with the Prize); or
  • •Changes imposed by airlines, accommodation providers or government authorities.

16.0 - Social media platforms

By entering into, and/or participating in and/or reading about the Competition through Meta, Instagram or any other social media platform, Competitors:

  • •agree to comply with the terms of use for the social media platform;
  • •release the social media platform from all claims based on, related to or arising from the Competition; and
  • •acknowledge and agree that the Competition is in no way sponsored, endorsed, administered or affiliated with the social media platform.

To the extent permitted by law, the Organiser is not responsible for any loss, damage or injury to Competitors, or any other participant, resulting from entering into, and/or participating in, the Competition, including any loss, damage or injury arising from any material published, or any comments made, by third parties about the Competitor, or any other participant, on any social media platform in connection with the Competition.

17.0 – Privacy

17.1. By entering the Competition, Competitors consent to receiving communications relating to the administration of the Competition.

17.2In addition, to facilitate travel arrangements, winners may be required to provide personal information including:

•Passport details;

•Date of birth;

•Contact information;

•Emergency contact details;

•Dietary requirements; and

•Any information reasonably required to administer the prize.

17.3Winners also consent to the use of photographs, video footage or interview content captured during the trip for promotional purposes.

17.4The Organiser may collect Competitors’ personal information directly or through its agents or contractors.The Organiser will use Competitors’ personal information to conduct and manage the Competition.The Organiser may disclose Competitors’ personal information to its related companies, agents and contractors to assist in conducting the Competition, communicating with Competitors or storing data.This may include disclosures to organisations outside the United Kingdom where permitted by applicable data protection legislation.

17.5 By entering, all Competitors consent to the Organiser keeping the personal information of Competitors on the Organiser’s databases to use for future marketing purposes, including contacting Competitors by electronic messaging, provided that such communications comply with applicable UK data protection and electronic marketing laws, including the UK GDPR, Data Protection Act 2018 and Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations.

17.6 By entering, all Competitors consent to receiving email or SMS messages from the Organiser without any functional unsubscribe facility if they relate primarily to the conduct of the Competition.

17.7 Personal information will be handled in accordance with the Organiser's privacy policies, including:

18.0 General

18.1 If, for any reason beyond the control of the Organiser, the Competition is not capable of running as planned and administration of the Competition is affected, the Organiser reserves the right to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the Competition.

18.2 To the extent permitted by law, these terms and conditions, and any disputes or claims arising out of or in connection with the Competition or other subject matter of these terms and conditions, are governed by, and will be construed in accordance with, the laws of England and Wales, and the parties agree that the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction.
