Seven events. Four countries. One global celebration of brewing.

This year, the Allpress x HARIO V60 Championship is heading across Australia, New Zealand, Singapore and the UK, bringing together brewers to put their pour-over skills to the test.

Below are the Full Terms and Conditions for the competition.

By entering the Allpress x HARIO V60 Championships 2026(the"Competition"), all competitors(each a"Competitor") and judges agree to the following terms and conditions.In these Terms and Conditions,"Organiser" means Allpress Espresso Australia Pty Ltd(ABN 16 088 087 807), Allpress Espresso NZ Ltd(NZBN 94 290 393 629 64) and HARIO Australia Pty Ltd ACN 662 196 830, jointly and severally.

1.0 Eligibility and Entry

1.1. Competitors must be at least 18 years of age at the date of entry.

1.2. Competitors must hold Australian or New Zealand citizenship, permanent residency, or a valid visa entitling them to reside in Australia or New Zealand at the time of the Competition.

1.3. Competitors must hold a valid passport and be available to travel to Melbourne on Thursday 29 October 2026 for the ANZ Finals and, if selected as the overall winner, to Tokyo, Japan in April 2027. Failure to meet this requirement may result in forfeiture of any prize won.

1.4. Employees(and their immediate family members and household members) of Allpress Espresso Australia Pty Ltd, Allpress Espresso New Zealand, HARIO Australia Pty Ltd and their related bodies corporate, and any agencies associated with the Competition, are ineligible to enter.

1.5. Submissions will open three weeks prior to each regional competition date, with thirty-two(32) Competitor spots available per regional competition. Registrations will be allocated on a first come, first serve basis.

1.6 - Entry is via Eventbrite page(links to the regional Eventbrite pages can be found here[TS3] (#) ). Competitors will be notified by email at time of booking and will be required to confirm their participation 48 hours before the event. Failure to confirm within the 48-hour timeline may result in a cancellation of your competitor registration. 

1.7 - Once the thirty-two(32) competitor slots are filled, a waitlist will be opened for parties who wish to compete. Interested parties will be notified once a competition position becomes available. Waitlist parties are encouraged to attend the event on the evening, as a position may become available. 

1.8. The Organiser reserves the right to make all decisions relating to the administration, operation and interpretation of these Terms and Conditions. The Organiser's decisions are final and binding, and no correspondence will be entered into. For the avoidance of doubt, winners of the Competition are determined solely by reference to the skill-based judging criteria set out in section 8.0.

1.9 - The Organiser reserves the right to amend these Terms and Conditions, the Competition format, schedule, venue, judging process or any other aspect of the Competition where reasonably necessary due to operational requirements or circumstances beyond the Organiser's reasonable control, provided the integrity of the Competition is maintained.

1.10-The Organiser reserves the right to refuse entry to, or disqualify, any competitor who:

• breaches these Terms and Conditions;

• provides false or misleading information;

• tampers with the Competition process;

• behaves in an unsafe, abusive, disruptive or unsportsmanlike manner;

• fails to comply with reasonable directions issued by event officials; or

• acts in a manner that may bring the Competition, the Organiser or its partners into disrepute.

2.0 Competition Costs 

2.1. The cost of entry into the Competition is $35.00 per Competitor(GST exclusive).

2.2. - This is an open event(subject to clause 1), however all guests must register to enter the Competition through the Eventbrite page.

2.3. - Food and beverage will be provided during the event. 

2.4 – Competitors are provided a goodie bag on arrival which is valued at approximately $100.00.

3.0 Refunds 

3.1. Subject to any rights Competitors may have under applicable consumer protection legislation(including the Australian Consumer Law), Allpress Espresso Australia, Allpress Espresso New Zealand and HARIO Australia do not offer refunds of entry fees to Competitors.

4.0 Dates, Times and Locations

4.1 - Regional competitions will be held in the following locations. 

4.1.1 - Sydney; Thursday 24 September 2026, 4:00pm—8:30pm at La Marzocco Australia – 14 Underwood Avenue, Botany New South Wales, Australia

4.1.2 - Auckland; Thursday 1 October 2026, 4:00pm—8:30pm at Allpress Espresso Roastery - 8 Drake Street, Freemans Bay, Auckland, New Zealand. 

4.1.3 - Brisbane; Thursday 8 October 2026, 4:00pm—8:30pm at Felons Barrel Hall – 5 Boundary Street, Brisbane, Queensland, Australia.

4.1.4 - Christchurch; Thursday 25 October 2026 , 4:00pm—8:30pm at Allpress Espresso - 110 Montreal Street, Sydenham, Christchurch, New Zealand.

4.1.5 - Melbourne; Thursday 29 October 2026, 4:00pm—8:30pm at Allpress Espresso Roastery- Unit 7, 21 – 35 Radford Road, Reservoir, Victoria, Australia. Parking available on site.

4.2 - Winners from the regional locations(Christchurch, Brisbane, Auckland and Sydney) will be required to fly to Melbourne on Thursday 29 October 2026 to compete in the V60 Championships ANZ final. 

4.2.1. The finals will take place at the conclusion of the Melbourne regionals. Melbourne; Thursday 29 October 2026, commencing approximately 8:30pm—9:00pm at Allpress Espresso Roastery, Unit 7, 21–35 Radford Road, Reservoir, Victoria, Australia.

4.3 - The Organiser reserves the right to change competition dates, venues or timings where reasonably necessary.

5.0 Prizes 

5.1. Prizes for the regional competitions are as follows: 1st prize: $500 EFTPOS Gift Card; one economy return airfare to Melbourne valued at approximately $500; one night's accommodation in Melbourne valued at approximately $350; and a HARIO product pack valued at approximately $300. Refer to section 12.0 for further information on travel. 2nd prize: $300 EFTPOS Gift Card and a HARIO product pack valued at approximately $250. 3rd prize: $150 Eftpos Gift Card and a HARIO product pack valued at approximately $200.

5.2. The Competition winner will receive a trip to Japan including one economy return airfare, accommodation allowance to the maximum value of AUD $2,500 and a 4-day event pass to World Coffee Championships Tokyo 2027. Refer to section 12.0 for further travel details.

5.3 - Prizes are not transferrable, exchangeable, refundable or redeemable for cash or any other form of credit. In the event that a prize becomes unavailable for any reason, the organiser reserves the right to substitute it with a prize of equal or greater value. 

5.4 - The winners of the regional competitions(Christchurch, Auckland, Brisbane and Sydney) will be required to travel to Melbourne on Thursday 29 October 2026 to participate in the final of the competition. If the winner is unable or unwilling to travel and participate on this date, they will forfeit the prize, and an alternative winner may be selected at the organiser’s discretion.

6.0 Competition Rules and Regulations

6.1 - Competitors must use the coffee provided by Allpress Espresso during the competition. No external coffee may be brought on site. 

6.2 - Competitors must use the cups provided during the competition and for the presentation. Cups supplied by ACME. 

6.3 - Competitors must use a genuine HARIO V60 brewer(the Switch is permitted). Competitors can bring their own brewers. Competitors are required to bring their own HARIO brewer for the competition. 

6.4 - Competitors must use genuine HARIO V60 paper filters, either 01 or 02 size(Meteor Paper Filers are permitted). Filters will be supplied by HARIO for the competition. 

6.5 - Accessories such as decanters, thermometers, sifters, air blowers, WTD tools, spoons and water dispersion aids are allowed. 

6.6 - Paragon chilling rocks or anything similar is not allowed.

6.7 – Competitors may use the hand grinder supplied by the Organiser or their own manually operated hand grinder, unless otherwise specified within the requirements of an individual competition round. Electric grinders are prohibited throughout the competition.

6.8 - All accessories must comply with the rules outlined in the terms and conditions.

6.9 - Event officials may inspect any equipment prior to competition to ensure compliance with these Terms and Conditions.

7.0 Practice Time, Prep Time and Competition Time

7.1 - Pre-competition: competitors will not be provided coffee prior to the competition day and the coffee to be used in the competition rounds will not be disclosed prior. Competitors are welcome to purchase coffee from the Allpress Espresso website. A discount code will be provided upon completion of registration. 

7.2 - On the day preparation: there will be a space allocated for pre-competition practice. During this time competitors may prepare brewing water, sort through and pick coffee beans, weigh out coffee doses and assemble brewer. 

7.3 - Set up time: Before the competition time stages, competitors will have four minutes to set up their working space. Competitors can use this time to; plug in the kettle, set brewing equipment into place, preheat brewing water in the kettle, add coffee to the grinder and or grind the coffee. Competitors may not rinse the filter or preheat / pre-chill brewers or vessels. 

7.4 - Competition time: Competitors will have five minutes to prepare their brewed coffee for presentation to the judges. Brewed coffee not presented within the five-minute time limit will not be evaluated. 

7.5 - Any equipment failure determined by the Head Judge to be outside the competitor's reasonable control may result in additional time or a re-brew at the Organiser's discretion.

8.0 Scoring and Judging 

8.1 - A full rules and regulations will be made available to participants two(2) weeks prior to the competition, as part of their entry pack. 

8.2 - There will be a panel of four(4) judges per competition round. 

8.3 - Each round is judged by blind tasting. 

8.4 - Competitors names are marked on the underside of the ACME cup provided to remain hidden. 

8.5 - Each judge will receive five(5) coins before the tasting.

8.6. Judges will conduct a blind taste test of each coffee, assessing each brew against the following skill-based criteria: acidity, body, sweetness and tactile qualities. Each judge will evaluate the technical skill demonstrated in the brew as reflected in these sensory attributes.

8.7 - After tasting, judges will place their coins in front of the cups they wish to vote for. A maximum of three(3) coins can be placed on a single cup. Judges must place all five coins down each round or group of competitors. 

8.8 - Each judge arrives at their conclusion independently, without discussion with fellow judges. 

8.9 - The Head Judge will announce the winner based on the cup with the most amount of coins. 

8.10 - The MC reveals the round winner by lifting the winning cup. 

8.11. In the event of a tie, judges will re-taste the tied cups and each judge will receive one additional coin to cast a deciding vote based on their assessment of the skill-based criteria. The cup with the most coins is declared the winner. If a tie persists, the Head Judge will cast the deciding vote.

8.12 - The Head Judge's decision on all judging matters is final.

9.0 Competition Format

9.1 - Regional competitions will be structured as follows:9.1.1 - The competition is a structured, multi-round, elimination tournament. 

9.1.2 - There will be three(3) rounds to the competition. In each round, competitors will have nine(9) minutes to complete the process of preparing, brewing and presenting their coffee. 

9.1.3- Each competition round features between four(4) and eight(8) competitors brewing coffee simultaneously. 

9.1.4 - Judges will conduct blind taste tests of each coffee, making a private assessment to determine the best brew each round. 

9.1.5 - The winners of each round will advance to the next stage. 

9.1.6 - There will be three(3) competition rounds. Round One - thirty-two(32) competitors, with sixteen(16) competitors progressing to Round Two. Round Two – The sixteen(16) successful competitors from round one will compete and must using the HARIO Hand Grinder supplied by the Organiser. No external brewers will be permitted in this round. Four(4) will progress to Round Three. Round Three – five(5) competitors, with 1st, 2nd and 3rd being decided by the judges. 9.1.7. Wild Card EntryFollowing completion of Round Two, one(1) Wild Card Competitor will be selected from all Competitors eliminated during Rounds One and Two. The Wild Card will be the eliminated Competitor who received the highest cumulative coin score across their round(s) of competition.The Wild Card selection will be announced by the Head Judge immediately prior to the Final Round. In the event of a tie for the Wild Card position, the Head Judge will determine the Wild Card based on a re-assessment of the tied Competitors' brews from the preceding rounds.The selected Competitor will progress to Round Three alongside the four(4) Competitors who qualified through the judging process.

9.2 - At the conclusion of the Melbourne regional heat held on Thursday 29 October 2026, the V60 Championship ANZ final will be held. The final will see five competitors, competing for the 1st place prize, a trip to Japan provided by HARIO Australia. Refer to section 5.0 for prizes and section 12.0 for further information.

10.0 Brewing

10.1 - Only ground coffee and water are permitted as ingredients. 

10.2 - Competitors must use the coffee supplied by Allpress Espresso on the day of the competition. No coffee can be brought into the competition. 

10.3 – Competitors cannot bring their own water or minerals and must use the water provided.

10.4 - A maximum of 21g of ground coffee is allowed in each recipe. 

10.5 - Competitors must prepare a minimum of 250g of brewed coffee. 

10.6 - Competitors may add bypass water of any temperature to their brewed coffee.

10.7 - Brewed coffee not presented within the five-minute time limit will not be evaluated.

11.0 Water Regulations 

11.1 - The water must taste“neutral” and not be noticeably sweetened or adulterated. 

11.2 - The Head Judge will taste the water and may disallow its use if deemed inappropriately sweetened. 

11.3 - The use of ice in recipes and any temperature water for bypassing is permitted. 

11.4 - Competitors must only use the water supplied by the Organiser.

12.0 Travel 

12.1. The winners of the regional competitions held in Brisbane, Sydney, Auckland and Christchurch must be available to fly to Melbourne on Thursday 29 October 2026 to compete in the V60 Championship ANZ final competition round, held on Thursday 29 October 2026, after the conclusion of the Melbourne regional competition. If the winner is unable or unwilling to travel and participate on this date, they will forfeit the prize, and an alternative winner may be selected at the organiser’s discretion. 

12.2. Regional competition winners will be flown to Melbourne, at the cost of Allpress Espresso. All flight and accommodation bookings will be covered by Allpress Espresso and booked through the nominated Allpress Espresso travel agent. 

12.3. The travel will include 1 x economy fare return trip and accommodation at a hotel of Allpress Espresso’s choosing. 

12.4. The V60 Champion ANZ will receive a trip to Japan, including one economy return airfare and accommodation up to the maximum value of $2,500. Travel dates must be agreed upon in consultation with HARIO Australia. The winner will have the freedom to select their preferred flights and accommodation which will be reimbursed by HARIO Australia up to the agreed limit.

12.5. The Japan stay includes accommodation reimbursement up to a maximum daily rate and total duration to be specified by HARIO Australia prior to booking.

12.6. Any additional costs outside of what has been outlined above will be the responsibility of the competitor. 

12.7. Allpress Espresso and HARIO Australia strongly recommend any competitor travelling to Japan to take out their own travel insurance for the entirety of their travel and stay. 

12.8 - Prizes are not transferrable, exchangeable, refundable or redeemable for cash or any other form of credit. In the event that a prize becomes unavailable for any reason, the organiser reserves the right to substitute it with a prize of equal or greater value.

12.9 - Competitors are responsible for ensuring they hold valid passports, visas and any other documentation required to travel.

12.10 - Failure to obtain travel documentation does not entitle the winner to an alternative prize or cash payment.

13.0 Requirements of Competition Winners 

13.1 - The winners of any competition(regional or national) must be available to travel at the times nominated above. 

13.2 - Competitors acknowledge that photography, videography, live streaming and media coverage may occur throughout the competition.

13.3 - Competitors grant the Organiser a perpetual, royalty-free licence to use their name, image, likeness and competition footage for promotional, editorial and marketing purposes without further compensation.

13.4 - The winner must have enough funds to cover the costs of food, freight, internal travel and incidental miscellaneous costs while competing in Melbourne at the V60 Champion ANZ finals and while in Japan for the hosted HARIO experience in April 2027.

14.0 Liability

14.1 - Competitors participate in the Competition entirely at their own risk.

14.2 - Competitors must comply with all health, safety and operational directions issued by event officials.

14.3 - To the extent permitted by law, the Organiser excludes all liability for loss, damage, injury or expense arising from participation in the Competition or travel associated with the competition, except where liability cannot legally be excluded (including any applicable guarantees under the Competition and Consumer Act 2010(Cth) or the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993(NZ), as applicable).

14.4 - The Organiser strongly recommends all Competitors obtain their own travel insurance for travelling to and attending the Competition.

14.5 – Subject to any liability which cannot be legally excluded, the exclusion of liability under clause 14.3 extends to(but is not limited to):

• technical malfunctions, delays or failures, including those resulting from accessing any materials related to the Competition and any incorrect, inaccurate or incomplete information communicated in the course of, or in connection with, the Competition as a result of any technical malfunctions, delays or failures;
• theft, unauthorised access or third party interference;
• lost or damaged entries, Prize claims or Prize(s); and/or
• acceptance and/or use of any Prize;
• events beyond the Organiser’s reasonable control that prevent or delay the Competition or travel;
• any loss, damage or injury arising from participation in the Competition or acceptance of the Prize(including in the course of any travel associated with the Prize); or
• Changes imposed by airlines, accommodation providers or government authorities.

15.0 Social media platforms

By entering into, and/or participating in and/or reading about the Competition through Meta, Instagram or any other social media platform, Competitors:

• agree to comply with the terms of use for the social media platform;
• release the social media platform from all claims based on, related to or arising from the Competition; and
• acknowledge and agree that the Competition is in no way sponsored, endorsed, administered or affiliated with the social media platform.

To the extent permitted by law, the Organiser is not responsible for any loss, damage or injury to Competitors, or any other participant, resulting from entering into, and/or participating in, the Competition, including any loss, damage or injury arising from any material published, or any comments made, by third parties about the Competitor, or any other participant, on any social media platform in connection with the Competition.

16.0 Privacy

16.1. By entering the Competition, Competitors consent to receiving communications relating to the administration of the Competition.

16.2 In addition, to facilitate travel arrangements, winners may be required to provide personal information including:

• Passport details;

• Date of birth;

• Contact information;

• Emergency contact details;

• Dietary requirements; and

• Any information reasonably required to administer the prize.

16.3 Winners also consent to the use of photographs, video footage or interview content captured during the trip for promotional purposes.

16.4 The Organiser may collect Competitors’ personal information directly or through its agents or contractors. The Organiser will use Competitors’ personal information to conduct and manage the Competition. The Organiser may disclose Competitors’ personal information to its related companies, agents and contractors to assist in conducting the Competition, communicating with Competitors or storing data. This may include disclosures to organisations outside Australia.

16.5 By entering, all Competitors consent to the Organiser keeping the personal information of Competitors on the Promoter’s databases to use for future marketing purposes, including contacting Competitors by electronic messaging provided that, where required by the Spam Act 2003(Cth) or the Unsolicited Electronic Messages Act 2007(NZ), as applicable, the Organiser includes a functional unsubscribe facility in each direct marketing communication it sends the Competitors notifying the Competitors that they may use to opt-out of any further such communications and provided that the functional unsubscribe facility complies with the Spam Regulations 2021(Cth).

16.6 By entering, all Competitors consent to receiving email or SMS messages from the Organiser without any functional unsubscribe facility if they relate primarily to the conduct of the Competition. 

16.7 Personal information will be handled in accordance with the Organiser's privacy policies, including:

17.0 General

17.1 If, for any reason beyond the control of the Organiser, the Competition is not capable of running as planned and administration of the Competition is affected, the Organiser reserves the right to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the Competition.

17.2 To the extent permitted by law, these terms and conditions, and any disputes or claims arising out of or in connection with the Competition or other subject matter of these terms and conditions, are governed by, and will be construed in compliance with, the laws of Victoria Australia and the parties agree that the courts of Victoria, Australia have exclusive jurisdiction.
